Welcome to PeacefulTikes!
PeacefulTikes allows us to share not only mindful activities but educational suggestions to keep your young children busy and learning.
Mindfulness is paying attention on purpose! It can be as simple as throwing a water balloon carefully and making sure you catch it properly. It is sharing your feelings and having them validated. It is learning breathing techniques to help you through a toddler tantrum or any stressful moment. It is caring for the social emotional side of learning. Mindfulness is being engaged in the moment.
Peacefultikes will share breathing techniques, mindful activities, educational interests, and books for both adults and children.
Toys and Activities – All suggestions and reviews will be based on actual usage and experience. Keep in mind all children have different interests. Also, suggested age level ranges are usually very wide. If they don’t enjoy and activity now, try again in a few weeks or months.
Books – All book suggestions will have been read and tried. Karen will share children’s books and Amanda will share books related to parenting. Once again, what may work for you may not work for someone else.
Breathing Techniques – Breathing techniques are wonderful ways to bring you back to the moment. Using these with children help them to focus on a task. They will also assist in calming them in a difficult situation. These need to be learned and practiced. A toddler in a tantrum will probably not start deep breathing on their own. Breathing works for adults also. It is very powerful.
As I mentioned many times above, not all we post will work for everyone. Take what works for you and leave the rest for someone else.
Who are we?
Hi I’m Karen, mother of four, grandmother of soon to be three, certified yoga and mindful instructor and a preschool teacher with over 20 years of experience.
Mindfulness has been a practice that has transformed my life. Raising four children, teaching preschool and running a household was so time consuming I hardly had a minute for myself. As I applied the principals of my practice I was able to be a better mom, teacher and person.
Now I enjoy my children, grandchildren and puppy Lola. I feel a sense of calm and gratitude as a navigate my life. I hope the ideas we share will benefit you in your journey.

Hi I’m Amanda. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. I work with adults who are managing anxiety and major lifestyle transitions. Parenting a young child can be anxiety provoking at times! You might be constantly questioning your parenting choices. Mindfulness can be a tool to build your confidence and stop questioning yourself.
As a mother of two toddlers I try to incorporate different mindful strategies to help my children feel confident and able to identify how they are feeling. It is not an easy task but something I feel strongly they and others should try to incorporate into their daily routines.
