Zipper Breathing

One of the first breathing techniques I teach my students is zipper breathing. It is as simple as breathing in your nose the length of the zipper moving up your chest and breathing out your nose the length you unzip. These deep breaths activate your parasympathetic nervous system. They help produce feelings of calm.  These are great breaths to do in the car, on the way to school or before sitting down for homework. Weather you are wearing a coat or not, an imaginary zipper also works.
